Ashley Brown  00:47

Hey, and welcome back for another episode of the Routine and Things Podcast. I am your host, Ashley Brown. I feel like I never say that (lol). But we are here and today is a really fun episode because I'm talking all things fall. Fall is one of my favorite seasons is between fall and summer but I think summer is my fav and then fall is definitely like tied with summer. But fall is a super beautiful season and I absolutely love it. So that's why I'm so excited to talk about my fall routine essentials for today.

Ashley Brown  01:35

And just as a quick life update, it's been a lot going on just in terms of how I'm feeling right now. I'm feeling super blessed. I really am I'm feeling like I am enjoying life. The girls are doing well which is so beautiful to see them interacting with their cousin who is watching them which is so beautiful, but then also being able to be home with them. Although I work I am also able to be at home with my girls while I work which is so beautiful and I am very grateful for that. But life right now feels good, the Routine and Things Shop is open, and women have been enjoying the products and I am just so excited about what is and what is to come. So I'm just super excited about life right now and it's fall. So I'm even more excited. So that's just a little life update for you.

Ashley Brown  02:40

But let's go ahead and get into the fall routine essentials. Like I said, I love fall and fall is here. And like I said this is one of the favorite times of year for me. It is so beautiful. I love everything about it. And it's so funny because I've always gotten pregnant in the fall. Not this year. Let me just put that out there. Not this year. But I've always gotten pregnant in the fall. And I'm telling you it's because I freakin love the fall. It resonates like warmth and beauty and change and growth. I don't know, it's just something about fall for me. So as you can tell, it's one of my faves. And a fall routine is definitely something that I have. But how I define a fall routine is probably different than what you've heard. I just believe a fall routine is my routines I currently have with fall inspiration sprinkled into it. That's really it. You don't have to switch up your routines in order to have a fall routine, you can just add some fall vibes to it. Which is what I love because I'm all about keeping things simple and not having to switch up things so much.

Ashley Brown  04:00

So I'm going to share with you what some of my essentials for fall are. And this is probably going to be a short episode but I want to share with you what I love adding to my routines in the fall and some of the things I mention I will have linked in the show notes so that you can check out these items if they resonate with you and if you want to get them for your routine.

Ashley Brown  04:26

So the first thing is comfy blankets and bedding. Hmm I love me a comfy blanke. I feel like in our home I have about maybe eight, maybe eight blankets, and I love them. I love blankets so I always buy blankets in the fall. I don't know why I just do. They're comfy and they just feel good. So blankets, comfy blankets or comfy bedding because you know it's starting to get cooler outside. Especially if you're in an area where it starts to get cooler, maybe if you're in Cali it doesn't start to get that cooler but if you're in the area where it starts to get cooler in the fall, yes comfy blankets bedding is where it's at. And this is really great for your nighttime routine. That comfy bedding, getting you a nice thick Duvet for the fall time. I mean so beautiful, so beautiful. It's so funny because I'm actually snuggled up with the blanket right now as I'm talking to you. So I love blankets. So this is a really great essential to add to your nighttime routine to give it some fall vibes.

Also warm drinks, like coffee and tea. So good. So you know already I love coffee. If you didn't know, I do. I'm a coffee lover. I choose coffee over tea all day. Even though I will drink tea, but I love coffee more. And so getting some flavor coffee, some flavored tea. I love pumpkin spice coffee. I usually get from Trader Joe's. Also I love any type of like spiced coffee in general. But then also tea so like cinnamon spice tea. I know one that I absolutely love. You can get it from any store, it's called Bengal Spice. And I forgot what the brand is. Dang, it might be Celestial Teas but it's Bengal Spice. If you type in Bengal Spice it probably will come up on Google. But I love that tea and it's so good. You don't even need like honey or sweeteners, to me anyway, you don't need it. So that's what I love about it too. So those are the warm drinks I love during the fall and of course with my coffee I buy creamers. Like you have to get the pumpkin spice creamer, you have to get like the cinnamon spice creamer. I think they have one by Dunkin that's like cinnamon something, so good. Even if you don't drink coffee just brew the coffee and like smell it. It smells so freaking good. So that is another essential for me in my home I always have it, always have that and buy it every single season.

Ashley Brown  07:32

And to go along with warm drinks, also food. Like can we just talk about food real quick, like fall foods. Comfort, comfort foods like soups. I love making this lentil cauliflower soup which is so good is coconut curry lentil and cauliflower soup. So good. I also love just making any type of soup and broccoli cheddar, chicken noodle. I love soups, especially during the fall time. I also love making cinnamon rolls like that's one of the family faves is cinnamon rolls homemade, come fresh out of the oven with that icing. I'm getting hungry. I'm getting hungry, but like comfort foods are everything during the fall. So I usually put on a few extra pounds, it's inevitable. I love comfort food. And so I always add comfort foods to my routines, especially my meal routines, always comfort foods. And I take my annual Fall Trader Joe's run where I will buy up all of their fall items. Super fun, that's going to be a super fun trip this year. So those are just like some foods that can think about. Any type of comfort food that like is warming. So great to add to your routines. Alright so before we continue the conversation Let's take a short break.

Alright, so the next essential that I usually have a part of my fall routine are candles, candles, good smelling candles, fall inspired candles. So beautiful. I light them after my cleaning routines. I light them during my nighttime routine. I love a good smelling fall candle. Any type of spice. Apple spice, pumpkin spice, any type of fall scent I absolutely love. So if you can get a candle that is fall inspired to add to any of your routines, do so. So nice and I will have that linked below which candles I'm going to be getting this year.

Ashley Brown  10:21

And so the last thing that's a part of my fall routine essentials is family activities and you know like family activities are going to look a bit different this year. I'm not going to give up on them completely. But we probably will not be able to do all of the family activities that we do usually in the fall because we usually like going apple picking, we love to go to the pumpkin patch. We love going to many farmers markets, and so those are the activities that we usually do in the fall. But some of them will have to be removed, re-worked or at least done in a different way. I still would love to go pick apples so I'm really hoping that we will be able to pick apples and I need to think about some more activities that we can do with the girls so that they enjoy fall. And another part of our family activities is football. I love football, this my favorite sport. Absolutely love football, got introduced to it by my husband because I did not watch it beforehand. And I'm super excited to watch football this year. I know it's gonna look different, but I'm still excited about it. Go ravens! That is our team and so I can't wait to see how things work out and hopefully, hopefully they do work out and hopefully they are safe. So those are some of the fall essentials that I absolutely love and like I said some of these things will be linked below. If I love them, they'll be linked below. And if I use them they will be linked below so you can go check out the link in the show notes in order to check out what is on my fav fall list.
