Hey, welcome back for another episode of the Routine and Things Podcast. I'm so happy that you're here joining me yet again this week. All righty. So in this episode, I am talking about why there's never going to be the right time. And you might be like Ashley, what are you talking about girl? There's never going to be the right time. Sometimes we sit around thinking, Oh, okay, just like when the time is right, I'm gonna do X, Y, or Z. When the time is right, I will do this. Like we're in such a layered in a chaotic time, many of us are doing so much right now virtual learning, trying to manage being at home and like doing our jobs. Our spouses may be at home with us trying to do their work, and we're trying to do our work. And it's just a lot that is going on right now. So just know you're not alone in the lots of things that we have to manage right now on top of the responsibilities that are always going to be there. I don't think that this is a reason for us to not go after what it is that we want and go after what it is that we need. So there's never going to be the right time to start, whatever you're thinking about starting, there's never going to be the right time to do whatever you've been having on your heart to do, there's never going to be the right time to eliminate stress and invite more peace, like there's never going to be the right time.

What I'm sharing with you today is an Instagram Live that I did a little while ago. And it goes more into depth about why your time is now, why the time is now and how to really evaluate when adding something to your plate is actually benefiting you or hurting you. So let's go ahead and get into this Instagram Live. And if you're not following me on Instagram, please go follow me there at Routine and Things. We have a lot of fun over there, and you learn a lot there as well. Alright, so let's go ahead and get into things, you might want to sit down for this one, because it might just pull on your heartstrings just a little bit.

Ashley Brown 3:53
I just want to let you know we're gonna be talking about is never going to be a right time. Why is never going to be the right time for you to decrease the stress in your life for you to invite more peace. It's never going to be the right time. And I think that this is super important to talk about, especially in this time, because for many of us, I mean, it's a lot going on right now, right? It's a lot going on, like many of us are doing virtual learning. I know that I've been hearing so many moms talk about virtual learning and how it is a lot right now and how just life is just crazy, like ramping up right now with Virtual Learning. We have like so many things that we are doing on top of what we already had, like our normal responsibilities, like grocery shopping is crazy because you're wiping down everything and it's just a stressful time, or it can be a stressful time right now.

Ashley Brown 4:45
But I want to share with you why you know, sitting with your stress, because you feel like it's not the right time to add something to your plate is actually hurting you rather than helping you. Because that's the problem that I'm seeing, so many women and so many moms is that we will say to ourselves, and we will sit with stress and like in a stressful situation, because we're like, I already have a lot going on right now. Now it's not the time, now's not the time for me to be adding anything else on my plate. Now it's not the time for me to be adding anything else on because I'm already stressed to the max, why would I put something else on my plate when I'm already stressed? Ashley, why would I do that? And I'm here to let you know that by just sitting with stress, you first have to evaluate is the thing that you're putting on your plate going to help alleviate your stress? Or is it contributing to you being more stressed?

Ashley Brown 5:40
And I think another thing that's important for you to consider is in what you're doing currently in your life, is that contributing to you being stressed. Because many times we don't sit to evaluate our current doing, we think by adding something else on that is what's going to be creating our stress, when in reality is like what we are currently doing is really creating our stress. And so it's important for us to evaluate our current doings, what actions we are taking in our lives right now. Are those actions contributing to our stress? Or are they helping to eliminate or alleviate our stress? And then outside of that, I think is also important to consider is what you're adding on to your plate going to help add to the stress or is it going to help alleviate the stress is super important to think about these things.

Ashley Brown 6:33
I'm going to share with you an example of this. So when I was had the thought of creating products, and it was just a thought I had. The thought of creating products. And it was around a time where the pandemic was really getting real, when they had shut everything down. And I had to come home and we start working from home, my husband was home more, the kids were here. And I had the thought of creating the products. And then I was like you know what, like, I started thinking, do I really want to create products when I'm already stressed? I was like when I'm already like, I already have a whole bunch of transition going on right now. Do I honestly want to create products and start doing something more? While I'm stressed already. And while I have so much like transition going on in my life, do I really want to do that. And I had to sit with that for a while. And after a while I was like you know what? Well, me creating these products, the value in me doing that was actually going to help eliminate my stress because it was going to give me a creative outlet. Because I love being creative. And that's like one of my stress relievers. It was helping women which I was like, I want to help women, I want to help moms. And that brings me so much joy to be of service to others. So I was like although it is adding something else to my plate, it is actually helping me to be, to feel like some relief of being stressed because of the creativity and just like it bringing me joy from me helping.

Ashley Brown 7:58
So I started to reframe and like kind of think about that in a different way versus saying, you know what, I'm not doing this because I already have a lot on my plate with trying to balance being a mom and a wife in this pandemic. You know what I mean? And so I think it's important for us to evaluate that because I don't want you sitting in stress. Like if you're stressed right now, if you're stressed right now, and you're just like, you know, what, can't add something else to my plate. Well, what are you adding to your plate? What do you want to add to your plate right now that you feel like, you know what, I don't have the time for this, or I don't have the energy for this because I'm already stressed and maxed out and think about is what you're wanting to add to your play actually going to contribute to your stress? Or is it going to help? Like really think about that? Will it help you in some type of way to like, bring joy or happiness to your life? Will it help you to be more creative? Will you be doing something that is of service to others, like really thinking about it and evaluating that is super important, because we will sometimes sit on the things that will actually help us in our lives because of all the other chaos and just confusion that's going on already. And I think it's really important for us to really evaluate it and to identify, is it contributing to your stress? Or is it taking away your stress? So I just wanted to share that today.

Ashley Brown 9:19
Because it's never going to be the right time for you to do anything in life. It's never like this ideal golden hour that you're going to get. You have to really understand is it going to be of benefit to you? Or is it not going to be of benefit to you and then move in the direction that you feel? That's super important. And especially when it comes to stress. Like I said, my huge mission is for y'all to have less stress and more smiles because that is super important. Because us as moms we deserve that man. Like we work hard, let's be honest, we work hard, and we deserve a full rich life that feels good, where we're taking care of ourselves as well as taking care and nurturing our family. So, you know, if what you want to add to your plate is going to help you take care of yourself, if what you're adding to your plate is going to help you to be of service to others. And that gives you like joy and makes you happy, do it, do it. If what you're going to put on your plate is going to help to alleviate stress, do it, because you deserve it. Like I said, it's never going to be the right time. The time is now.

Ashley Brown 10:23
Okay, so that is what I wanted to share. That is what I wanted to share with you. How do you feel after listening to that? Are you inspired to really start evaluating what you are currently doing? And are you inspired to actually begin doing the thing or the things that you've been wanting to do? Right, take that step, your time is now because there is never going to be the right time. If you are ready to add something to your plate that is actually going to be of benefit to you in terms of moving you towards more peace so you do have the energy and time to be able to devote to those things that you want to do.
