Post-Pandemic Routines I'm Working On

Hey, and welcome back to the routine of things podcast. So happy you're joining me. Alright, so this is gonna be a really short and sweet episode because I wanted to share routines I'm working on and just give a life update, especially with the world like opening back up, we know that the pandemic is not necessarily over. But we are starting to get back to some sense of normalcy. And I'm putting that in air quotes. Because it's not really back to normal, it's the new normal. And so with that being the case, I have been working on routines, I am still in the process of working on routines as we speak, and just really honing in on what's going to really help me live life with more ease around certain areas of my life that are changing and have changed.

Okay, so with that being said, let's just dive right into things. And there are two specific routines that I'm working on. And I've decided to change up these routines because some changes have been made and have come into my life. And so one of those being the kids going to school. So the girls are going to school, they are going to school really soon, we're going to be starting school in the fall, and I'm so excited for them. But I know also with this. Not so much. But But and I know also with this is going to be changes, right because we're going to be getting up at a regular time. And I need to make sure that I get myself together that I get them together so that they are at school on time and ready to start their day. So with this, I knew that I wanted to change up one our morning routine. So that is one of the routines that I am working on. Also with the girls going back to school, I am also returning back to work face to face. And so I was out of work for an entire year plus working virtually online. I am a nurse educator. And so with that now I am transitioning back to work face to face.

And with that, it's going to come right change. And so the routines and certain routines that I'm doing aren't going to really lend well to that change. And so that's why when I'm changing up the morning routine, because right now my morning routine is like super simple. It's like so freakin simple. But I'm going to be changing that up. Right now what I'm thinking is I'm going to make it a little bit more substantial for me, especially knowing that I need to get ready, the girls need to get ready and that we need to be out the door at a certain time. I just felt it needs to be more substantial and not so much that I need to be doing more. But I feel like I need to do a little bit more mindset stuff in the morning personally, because I just want to be ready to go when it comes like I need my mind to be up. I think I'm laughing because I think I shared before. I'm like a 9am type morning person. And so with that being the case, my mind don't be trying to wake up at no 530 or 6 o'clock in the morning. And so with that, I know that I just need Do more mindfulness in the morning to wake my brain up, or I'm going to be moving like a slug. I'm also going to be getting up a little bit earlier too, because I do move like a turtle in the morning. So that will be happening. I'm not getting up way earlier, it'd be probably about 30 minutes 30 minutes earlier, but that's really about it.

So yes, so yes, that's one routine, I'm definitely going to be improving, changing up, working on. And I've already started working on it a little bit. So that's one. And then secondly, with the girls going to school, but more so me returning back to work face to face, is I need to change up the cleaning routine and not so much like how I clean, but the management of cleaning, if that makes sense. And so what I've been thinking about is changing up when I do laundry, because usually I have like a certain day that I like to do laundry that needs to be done that day. But I like to do it that day. So like I need to change up kind of when I'm doing laundry, I even consider having someone come in and do our laundry because this would take this will take something off of my plate. And I'm big on like delegating and outsourcing for sure, I am a huge fan of that. And so I've been thinking about that and actually reached out to a few people.

So that's something and then also getting a cleaning service, possibly for the house as well, to come in probably every two weeks. I don't need them here every week. But like every two weeks, them come in and help me with cleaning around the home. And so those are some things that I'm pondering right now. But I do need to think about how am I going to manage the cleaning and making sure that stays consistent on a week by week basis, especially because now now that I'm not home as much throughout the day, I don't have that time. And I personally don't like to do a lot of cleaning at night. And I leave at the house too early in the morning when I am working to be able to clean and so I'm thinking right now, I'll probably go back to the weekends to a certain extent, but it ain't gonna be all day. Okay, because my weekends are not just for cleaning they are for other things I can do some cleaning is fine, I enjoy cleaning, but not the whole day. So I have to try to figure out how I'm going to manage the cleaning, because I do want to do some during the week. And I also want to do a little bit on the weekend. And so that's what I'm figuring out now.

So that is definitely a routine that I am currently working on. And those are the two morning and the cleaning routine more so than management of cleaning. And so as you see, as I'm going through this, this is how I think about just transitions in general. So anytime I know that there's going to be a transition coming, if I can pro actively become aware of it, I will start to slowly but surely change up the ways in which I do something and also think about them ahead of time. So that I don't feel like Oh, the transition just is boom is here. And now I'm trying to play catch up with my routines when I knew they were going to change. So this is something that you can start thinking about if you're going to be transitioning any type of way coming up soon. You can think about this and try to try to figure out what is going to best help support you what type of routine how that routine is going to flow. And I'm telling you it will do wonders.

So I just wanted to share that with you. I'm super excited for the girls to be going to school this fall. They are so cute. And they just did summer camp this summer, I had a ball. And so I'm excited to see them head off to school, they are growing right. Our babies are getting older by the minute. And I'm like where's time going? Is is insane. And so I try to charge every moment and I hope you are too. And if you're like me returning back to work soon I hope that is a beautiful transition for you.
