One of my least favorite memories as a mom happened when I was a stay at home mom. This day in particular, I have so many things to do. I was behind on laundry I needed to schedule my daughter a doctor's appointment, and the house was a mess. I mean a hot mess. And Funny enough, even though it's not funny, when I got to the end of my day, nothing had been done. You know those days. Thankfully, I had a god moment and realize I have fallen out of routine. Yes, this routine oriented girl had fallen out of routine. And honestly, it took me a while to get back on track because routines are always naturally falling into place for me in the past. But this was very different. I had to intentionally rebuild my routines one by one. And although it took time and patience, the impact routines had on my life was incredible. And I learned so much along the way.

Ashley Brown 1:44
This is why I'm so excited to share with you that your girl did a thing. I wrote a book, the Routine Building Handbook, you're all in one habit builder for increased productivity inspired work and lasting success. The Routine Building handbook is an easy to use Practical Guide for starting creating and maintaining routines to help you decrease stress, improve your sleep, and build a productive, joyful life. It gives you all the tools you need to introduce structure predictability, and stability, including a customizable habit building roadmap, ideas for week, day, weekend, morning and night routines. plenty of examples of realistic daily and weekly routines and advice for staying flexible. You can now preorder the book which comes with some amazing bonuses for a limited time to preorder the Routine Building handbook you can head to routineandthings.com/book or click the link in the show notes.

Hey girl, welcome back for another episode. I am Ashley Brown, your host of the routine and things podcast in this episode I am super excited about this is a reair of a previous episode. But I really want to bring this one back because I'm talking about fall. And fall is one of my absolute favorite seasons. It just gives me so many warm and just cozy vibes. I don't know it's something nostalgic about fall that absolutely love and so I thought this would be a really great episode to bring back around to share with you what my fall essentials are usually are. Because honestly they have not changed. They have not changed I am gearing up for the fall.

Ashley Brown 3:35
And one thing that I do want to purchase in the fall is more of my own loungewear oh my gosh loungewear is my fav and it became my favorite and when the pandemic started, it was crazy. I was like oh this loungewear is amazing because you can just be cute and in the house. So so that is definitely something I want to get for the fall and then also I see a lot of tea drinking in my evening routine in the fall as well but I'm super excited about the fall I think it's just certain things that you can add to your routine to give it that fall up vibe and so this episode is going to be speaking on that and is going to share with you some inspiration for your fall routine. So get inspired and let's go ahead and get into the re-air of my fall routine essentials.

Ashley Brown 4:29
So I'm going to share with you what's on my essentials for fall are and this is probably gonna be a short episode but I want to share with you what I love adding to my routines in the fall. And some of the things I mentioned I will have linked in the show notes so that you can check out these items if they resonate with you and if you want to get them for your routine. So the first thing is comfy blankets and bedding hmm love me a comfy blanket I feel like in our home I have about maybe, maybe eight, maybe eight blankets. And I love them. I love blankets so I always buy blankets in the fall. I don't know why I just do they're comfy and they just feel good. So blankets, comfy blankets are everything comfy bedding because you know is starting to get cooler outside. Especially if you're in an area where it starts to get cooler. Maybe if you're maybe if you're in Cali it doesn't start to get that cooler. But if you're in the area where it starts to get cooler in the fall, yes comfy blankets bedding is where it's at. And this is really great for your nighttime routine.

Ashley Brown 5:44
That comfy bedding get you a nice like thick duvet for the fall time. And it's so funny because I'm actually snuggled up with the blanket right now as I'm talking to you. So I love blankets. So this is a really great essential to add to your nighttime routine to give it some fall vibes. Also warm drinks, like coffee and tea. So good. So you know our already love coffee if you didn't know I do. I'm a coffee lover. I choose coffee over tea all day every day even though I will drink tea. But I love coffee more. And so getting some flavor coffee, some flavored tea. I love pumpkin spice coffee. I usually get from Trader Joe's but I love some pumpkin spice. Also love any type of like spice coffee in general. But then also tea so like cinnamon spice tea. I know one that I absolutely love. You can get it from any store. It's called bingo spice. I forgot what the brand is. Dang, it might be Celestial Teas but it's bingo spice. If you type it in bingo spice tea, it probably will come up on Google. But I love that tea. And it's so good. You don't even need like honey or sweeteners to me anyway you don't need it.

Ashley Brown 7:08
So that's what I love about it too. So that is those are the warm drinks that I love during the fall. And of course like with my coffee, I buy creamers like you have to get like the pumpkin spice creamer. You have to get like the cinnamon spice creamer. I think they have one by Dukin it's like cinnamon something so good. Like just do it up. I get you some stuff in the like even if you don't drink coffee. Just brew the coffee and like smell it It smells so freakin good. So that's another essential for me and my home. I always have it I always have that and buy it every single season and when I am buying and to go along and to go along with warm drinks. Also food. like can we just talk about food real quick like fall foods. Comfort, comfort foods like soups. I love making this lentil cauliflower soup which is so good like is coconut curry lentil and cauliflower soup. So good. I also love just making any type of soup honestly broccoli cheddar chicken noodle, I love soups, especially during the fall time.

Ashley Brown 8:26
I also love making cinnamon rolls like that's one of the family faves is cinnamon rolls home made coming fresh out of the oven with that icing. I'm getting hungry. I'm getting hungry, but like comfort foods are everything during the fall. So I usually put on a few extra pounds like it's just, it's inevitable. I love I love comfort food. And so I always add comfort foods to my routines, especially my meal routines, always comfort foods. And I take my annual like fall Trader Joe's Run where I will buy up all of their like fall items. Super fun, that's going to be a super fun trip this year. So those are just like some foods that I can think about But like any type of comfort food that like is warming. So great to add to your routines. Alright, so before we continue the conversation Let's take a short break.

Ashley Brown 9:25

Alright, so the next essential that I usually have a part of my fall routine are candles, candles, good smelling candles. Fall inspired candles are so beautiful. I like them after my cleaning routines, I like them during my nighttime routine. I love a good smelling, fall candle, any type of spice, Apple spice, pumpkin spice, any type of fall sent, absolutely love. So if you can get a candle that is fall inspired to add to any of your routines do so. So nice. And I will have that link below which candles I'm going to be getting this year.

Ashley Brown 10:34
And so the last thing that's a part of my fall routine essentials, his family activities, and you know, like family activities are gonna look a bit different this year, I'm not gonna give up on them completely. But we probably will not be able to do all of the family activities that we do usually in the fall because we usually like going apple picking we usually love to go to the pumpkin patch, we love going to many farmers markets. And so those are the activities that we usually do in the fall. But some of them will have to be reworked or at least done in a different way. I still would love to go pick apples. So I'm really hoping that we will be able to pick apples and I need to think about some more activities that we can do with the girls so that they enjoy fall. Those are some of the fall essentials that I absolutely love and like I said some of these things will be linked below. If I love them, they will be linked below. And if I use them they will be linked below so you can go check out that link in the show notes in order to check out what is on my fave fall list.
