Ashley Brown 2:46

Ashley Brown 3:38
So let's get into things we are jumping into the five must have routines for your home. Did you know there were five? I know you're like what five Ashley. We're going to go through all of that. And I'm going to give you all the tea about the five routines that you should have for your home. Alright, so let's go ahead and start off with the first routine. The first routine that your home should have is a children's routine, a routine that is catered and centered around your kids. Why? Because you know, our kids dictate a lot in our lives. Because we have to make sure that everything around them flows in a way that makes sense. And so it's important to just start here and to start with this routine, a children's routine, your kids routine.

Ashley Brown 4:31
What series of actions are you doing with your kids on a daily basis, whether they are at home with you, whether they're at daycare throughout the day, and then they're at home or whether they're in school for most of the day. It doesn't matter you still have to have a routine that it's catered around them because routines help support your children routines help develop your children and routines honestly help provide a great example for for them about structure and stability and predictability. And so routines for children are so helpful for them. And honestly, it's helpful for us. Because you know, as a mom, we are interrupted in our day with things that we were not expecting.

Ashley Brown 5:17
And so making sure that we have something and have a routine that we can expect, really helps to alleviate some stress and some anxiety that might pop up through our days into our weeks. All right, so after the second routine, which is all about cooking, we have to cook because we have to eat in order to live, right? You get that question every single day? I know you do. What's for dinner? Either your kids are asking you, you're asking yourself, or your partner is asking you and you're looking at them? Like I don't know, y'all tell me. But no, honestly, you have to have a cooking routine. And it doesn't have to be that you're in the kitchen. So a part of the cooking routine can be you going out to grab something to eat, or you are going to a restaurant, as long as your family and yourself that you're like grabbing something to eat or eating at home, it doesn't matter.

Ashley Brown 6:15
You just want to make sure that you have a series of actions that you do that feed your family. And so that could look like maybe you meal plan each day and in the morning, you sit down to think about what am I actually making. Maybe every morning, you take out some meat from the freezer to defrost it in the fridge before you get home. Maybe you actually have special days within your weeks that you do certain meals. So maybe you have a taco Tuesday or Meatless Monday. So this is what a cooking routine looks like. This is what it can look like. Now off to the next routine, which is all about cleaning. So of course, you know we want to have a clean home. Even though sometimes we get overwhelmed with the amount of things we have to clean and tidy on a regular basis. But a routine can help you to feel less overwhelmed.

Ashley Brown 7:13
It can help you to feel more power within your days, and actually prevent you from having to play catch up all the time. So think about just what tasks are you doing on a daily basis to clean your home, maybe that's just doing the dishes and sweeping the floor. And just tidying up a bit. It doesn't matter do what works for you and your family and what feels good for you. But this is what a cleaning routine is all about establishing those things that you are going to do on a daily basis that keep your home neat and tidy. Because there's clarity in the cleanup. You're going to hear me say that all the time. There is clarity in the cleanup. Next, let's talk about something that I think is honestly missed a lot. This routine I feel like it's overlooked by so many of us. And it can be easy for us to overlook this next routine. But it is a must, especially as homemakers, we need to make sure that we have this routine in place.

Ashley Brown 8:13
And that is a self care routine. Self Care. hear me loud and clear self care so important. Because we need to make sure that we are caring for ourselves in order to care for our home and those within our home. We're not going to just reserve self care for Sunday. No ma'am. We're not you actually start doing daily self care. It doesn't have to be much. It can be as simple as waking up in the morning and journaling for five minutes. Waking up and doing a quick meditation. You can even do things at night after your work day you can take you a nice hot long shower, not the five minute shower that you probably are used to taking when actual shower you can let your hair down and just feel good under that hot stream of water. You can also read a book or even just take time out to sit in silence all of these things are ways that you can actually start to have a daily self care routine.

Ashley Brown 9:17
So the last routine that I want to talk about is a planning routine. And I saved this one specifically for last because your planning routine is going to help all the other four routines. Stay in rotation planning helps you get intentional. And so planning helps you remain intentional so that you can continue to do those routines and be consistent in those routines in order for you to instill and infuse peace in your home and life. And so each week you want to carve out time to actually plan you want to sit down and take the time out to plan so from now on try to really make sure that you have a planning routine because I'm telling you, it is going to alleviate so much overwhelm so much anxiety.

Ashley Brown 10:11
And just honestly help you start to realize that you can get things done in your days and in your week, if you actually plan for it, and you plan the right way. Alright, so that's it for this episode, I just want to go back and review the things that we talked about. So first, we talked about what a routine actually is, which is a series of actions done regularly. And then we also talked about the five must have routines for your home, which is children cooking, cleaning, self care, and planning. So so vital that these routines are a part of your home. Okay, well, that's it for this episode. How was it? Did you feel like it reminded you of some things?

Ashley Brown 10:55
Was it a good refresher for you? Or if it was your first time listening? How was that? What do you think about the five routine categories? Which one will you be implementing? And remember, when you are starting with these categories, it is just a starting point. You want to get a little bit more specific about what in the category which specific routine do you actually want to create, and we have the routine assessment for you, which is absolutely free, routineandthings.com So you can definitely go there and try to get a little bit more specific where with where you're going to start in terms of these five categories.

Ashley Brown 11:33
