I've been talking a lot about the routine block planning method and you may be wondering if it will work for you. In this episode of the routine and things podcast, I hope you consider four questions before saying yes to this new way of planning. Here's how to decide if the routine block planning method is right for you.

Ashley Brown 0:33
Back in 2018, when I was a stay at home mom struggling to manage my household and my sanity, I decided to use planning to get more organized, I went to the store, I grabbed a really simple planner. When I got home, I opened it up just to stare at the lines on the page for 10 minutes. Then after some time, I decided you know what, let me plan based upon the areas of my life I was constantly thinking about and managing. Long story short, I stumbled upon a new way of planning that changed the way I organized my days. Its called the routine block planning method, which helps you simplify your planning by organizing daily tasks into four routine categories. Self care, family cleaning, and cooking. And lucky for you, I put together a free training that tells you all about it. In this free 15 minute video training, you'll learn how to get organized using the routine block planning method, you'll learn how it works. And why is the solution to living a more organized life to start watching head to routineandthings.com/training or just click the link in the show notes.

Ashley Brown 1:39
Hey, girl, hey, welcome back for another episode of the routine things pi Ks. In this episode, I am going to be helping you decide if the routine blog planning method is right for you. Because I am not one to give you something without helping you think intentionally about if it is going to work for you. I know that this planning method is the bomb.com. But it is only helpful for those who need it within a specific season of life. And I know that for a fact, because I created this in a specific Season of Life feeling a specific way when I needed it. So I know for sure that this is going to be super duper helpful for some for for some, you might not like it, it may not be helpful for you.

Ashley Brown 2:24
So I want to make that very clear today and to help you consider if this planning method will actually work for you. Okay, so that's what we're going to be doing today. So before we get into the questions, so that you can consider if this planning method will work for you, I want to just share what your routine blocking is. So the routine block planning method is where you organize weekly tasks into four routine categories self care, family cleaning, and cooking. That is what this planning method is.

Ashley Brown 2:53
And it's really helping you to manage the foundational areas of your life so that you manage the basics really well and stay focused on them is helping you to become a good steward of your time and energy by putting into practice boundaries with your time and energy as well as it is helping you to do consistent self care and to put yourself on the list. So those are the major benefits. I talk more about this in detail in Episode 143. I will link it in the show notes if you want to go back and listen to that episode. But that's what it is. And that's what it does for you. I have four questions I want you to think about and actually ask yourself and I want you to answer these. So you might want to write down a piece of paper or just take note in your head about how you're answering these questions.

Ashley Brown 3:37
If you answer yes to at least two of these questions, or even all of them, then that means that it is highly likely that the routine block planning method will work for you beautifully. Okay, so let's get into it. Question number one, answer this. Do you wish you had a planning system that worked for you? Do you wish you had a planning system that work for you? And what this could look like is maybe when you plan you're either not able to follow through with your plan, you find it hard to follow through many times. Maybe you're feeling super exhausted, even if you do complete everything on your plan.

Ashley Brown 4:12
At the end of the week, you're like feeling extremely exhausted by doing it. Maybe you don't even have a planning system and you're like what planning system? That's how this can look. So do you wish you had a planning system that worked for you? If you can answer yes to that, then you're on the right track. This planning method may actually work for you. Second question. Do you like simple planners? This is something that is very crucial for you to answer because if you answer yes that means that you probably would absolutely love the routine block planning method because it is simple as pie. Simple as pie.

Ashley Brown 4:54
Okay. It is so simple. It's so intuitive. It's you planning what you need to do within four categories. It helps you with compartmentalizing, really focusing on inserting your mind in certain ways so that it's easier for you to plan. It's such a simplistic way of planning that if you love simplicity, if you even yearn for a more simple way to plan, if you know in this season of life, your life cannot handle a complicated planning system. You will absolutely love routine block planning. So that's the second question. Do you like simple planners? Would you like to have a simple planning method that you use? If you can answer yes to that you're on the right track. Third question, do you find it important to manage these four things on a weekly basis?

Ashley Brown 5:43
Your self care, your family, cleaning, and cooking? Do you find this important? If that is a yes, then this planning method will work for you. Because it's keeping you in alignment with those things is keeping your focus on those things on a weekly basis. So when stressors try to come and knock you off course, when distractions pop up, out of nowhere when you start to have a little bit of FOMO is going to keep your mind focused on: Wait, these are important. Daily priorities that you want to keep manage, so that you feel good in your life. So do you find it important to manage these four things on a weekly basis? Self care, family, cooking, and cleaning?

Ashley Brown 6:29
If the answer is yes, bingo, I think that you will absolutely love the routine block planning method. And last but not least, the final question is: Do you struggle with prioritization and or time management? If you answer yes to this, then the routine block planning method is definitely for you. If you are struggling with prioritization time management, that is one of the huge benefits of routine blocking is it helps you become a good steward of your time and your energy. So if you're struggling in that way, this is going to be really, really helpful for you to plan using this method. So those are the four questions. How did you do?

Ashley Brown 7:10
Let me just run through them really quick again, so that you can answer them and see. The first question: Do you wish you had a planning system that worked for you? Yes or no? Do you like simple planners? Yes or no? Do you find it important to manage these four things on a weekly basis? Self care, family, cleaning, cooking, Yes or no? Lastly, do you struggle with prioritization and or time management? Yes or No? If you answered yes to at least two of these, I truly believe strongly that the routine block planning method will work for you. Or at the least it will be great for you to try it.

Ashley Brown 7:49
So those are the four questions I want for you to consider. If you answer yes to all four girl, I'm telling you, I think that you are absolutely going to love this way of planning, I think is going to work for you and your life. Because it is doing all of these four things for you. It is giving you a planning system that works is helping you to have a simple planning system. So that is not complicated in a season where you don't need complicated is helping you manage these four areas of your life, self care, your family, cleaning your home, cooking, and it's also helping you get better with prioritization and time management.

Ashley Brown 8:29
So that's it for today's episode, I just wanted to throw that out to you because I want you to be very clear on if you believe this will work for you or not, because the more that you believe that it will work for you. When you go to use it. When you go to implement this planning method. You're going to just have more success with it, because you believe it's actually going to work for you. So hopefully this was helpful to go through with you. The planner comes out so soon, the planner is coming out really really soon. October 5.
