Five Categories To Consider When Starting Routines

And either way, I strongly believe routines can be a springboard for improving your home, yourself and your life. I'm Ashley Brown. And this is the routine and things podcast. Hey, hey, welcome back for another episode of the routine and things podcast. I'm your host Ashley Brown, and super excited to be here with you yet for another week chatting about routines, you know, routines are my jam, I love them. I hope you do too. I'm assuming if you're listening you do or at least you want help with them which girl I'll take what I can get. Okay. So I'm super excited that you're here listening today, I want to share with you five categories to consider when starting your routines. This is we're at the top of the year right now, no matter when you're listening to this, this is definitely a great episode to listen to. But we're at the top of the year right now, where many of us are thinking about routines. And I want for you to have enough information so that you can make an informed decision about which routine is going to be helpful for you in your life. And so where you want to start is considering what type of routine is really going to be needed and helpful for you right now. And so there are five categories, these are five areas of your life, that it can be very, very, very helpful for you to have a routine within this area of your life.

And so the five routine categories are this listen up self care, children cleaning, cooking, and planning. And so why do you want to consider these one because they encompass the things that you are consistently managing on a daily or weekly basis. All of these areas are things that you're tending to, or if you're not tending to them are going to cause you to be stressed and get to the point of feeling overwhelmed or feeling burned out. And so it's important that you think about all of these categories, because they all are areas of your life that do need to be tended to consistently and constantly if you feel as if you want to live a healthy and happy lifestyle, right? If you let any of these go, you're gonna feel it. Right, can I be frank today, like you're gonna feel it, I've been there. And anytime I let any one of these areas kind of go especially for the extensive period of time, I felt the weight of that I felt the weight of getting behind on these things, I felt the weight of not putting these things at the top of my To Do lists. For example, self care is one of the things that will get placed at the bottom of the list if at all on the list.

And if you've been around for a while listening to the podcast, you know how I feel about self care, self care is needed for you. If you're going to manage everything else in your life, girl, you have to be managing your own self you have to be managing your self and being able to give yourself what you need. So then you can dose out things that other people need. Period point blank. So these five categories are really important for you to consider which of these five categories do you need help with? And before us tell me Ash, I need help with all five? Okay. I know that's what you're gonna say because I know you I need help with all five girl. What do you mean? I don't just need help with self care. I need help with cleaning, cooking, planning and my kids. I want for you to really think about when you are starting a routine if you're like I am needing help with all five right initially if that comes up for you. I want for you to think about this, which one feeds the most into each of these and I'm going to tell you right now, the one that feeds the most into each of these is self care because if you're not caring for yourself, you can just forget about keeping a cleaning routine going you can forget about keeping the planning routine going, you can forget about keeping your children's routines going if you are not caring for yourself.

So if you feel like you need all five of these categories and routines within all five, start with self care, start with self care, okay? And so these are the five areas of your life five routine categories. So let me break down each of these categories, self care or routines that you're doing to care for yourself. That's what self care categories routines, you're doing to care for yourself routines, like morning routine, bedtime routine, you can have a rest routine, you can have an exercise routine, you could have a journaling routine, it really doesn't matter. Like you can make up your own routine. Within this category of self care. Think about do you need a routine for yourself care. Children category, so these are routines that deal with your kids after school routine morning routine bedtime routine, nap routine, homeschool routine. So think about that. Think about do you need a routine for your children cleaning category. This involves cleaning routines, routines that you're gonna do to keep your home clean and tidy, clean, tidy organized, this can be laundry routine, a tidy routine, I have something called a home refresh routine where I clean bathrooms and also vacuum and take out trash around the house, you could have an organizing routine, you can have a decluttering routine, the sky's the limit.

But it's just routines that deal with your cleaning, cooking category routines that involve cooking like meal planning, routine meal prep routine, a dinner routine, a table routine, okay? So those are routines that could go in that category. And then last but not least, is a planning routine category. So these are routines that involve your planning, you'd have a daily planning routine, a weekly planning routine. So you have a monthly planning routine. So that is all of those five categories, the routines that will go within them. And that was just like a tip of the iceberg. The routines that I mentioned are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the routines that you can build within each category. And here's the thing, you want to get specific with a certain routine in that category. So when you are starting to decide which routine you need, you're first going to say okay, Which category do I need most right now, then you're going to say, all right from that category, what type of routine? Do I want to start within that category, it helps you get more like niche more specific so that it's easier for you to get up and going. So just remember that just remember that throughout this entire year. Am I tending to the things from our home for my family for myself? Do I need a routine to help me in doing that consistently.
